Boyd Burley
Boyd Burley passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at the age of 89. Boyd was born in Pennsylvania on August 20, 1936, and moved to Tampa in his youth. He was a proud graduate of Plant High School and attended the University of Tampa for a short time. He served his country with honor and commitment as a Marine Reservist. He moved to Brandon in 1961 and built a successful career as a home builder and real estate developer where he earned the respect of his colleagues and community through his integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic. Boyd took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career. He practiced the motto that everyone deserves a chance at success. He sponsored athletic teams and helped many individuals in times of need. He was proud to have served on the Bank of Tampa Advisory Board.He loved spending time with his family at the beach and on the water. He enjoyed boating and fishing often in the company of family and friends.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Lee (Bartlam), who preceded him in death. They shared 70 years of marriage which was marked by love, loyalty, and deep commitment. He always claimed the success of his marriage was based on one phrase which he lived by – “Yes, dear”.
Boyd was preceded by his parents, Agnes and Joe; son, Jeff; brothers, Ralph and Paul. He is survived by his son, Mitch (Rose); brother, Pat (Theresa); sister-in-law, Carol Craft; grandchildren: Ryan (Staci), Alena Knapp (Kyle), Steven (Tara), Allison, Thomas (Kim), and Jeffrey; and his great grandchildren: Clark, Kyson, Brady, Ellie Knapp, Emerson Knapp and Sophia.
The family extends gratitude to Dr. Mark Craft for his devoted care of his uncle as well as his caregivers for the kindness and compassion shown to Boyd.
