The NextGen Leaders program empowers high school and college students to make a meaningful difference in helping to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia while developing leadership, fundraising and community engagement skills.

Over the course of seven weeks, participants raise awareness and funds for Do What You Love to End ALZ™. Along the way, students gain valuable experience that can strengthen college applications, resumes, scholarship opportunities and future career goals.

About NextGen Leaders

This program is ideal for students who would like to do one or more of the following:

  • Want to make a difference in their community
  • Have been personally affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia
  • Are passionate about advocacy and service
  • Enjoy leading projects or collaborating with others

Plus, every participant receives a dedicated LinkedIn post, letter of recommendation and complimentary T-shirt.

How the Program Works

Step 1

Launch Your Fundraising Campaign

The program begins on World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21, and runs through November, giving students the flexibility to fundraise individually or recruit and lead a team.

Fundraising ideas include:
  • Social Media Fundraiser: Share your personal connection to the cause and encourage friends, family and followers to donate through regular updates and storytelling.
  • Download the ALZ Fundraising App: Send personalized texts and emails using pre-written templates, track donations and easily deposit checks.
  • Letter-Writing Campaign: Reach out to family, friends and community members to explain why supporting the Alzheimer’s Association® matters to you.
Step 2

Make an Impact

Throughout the program, students raise funds to advance the Alzheimer's Association's mission.

Each participating student will also be featured in a dedicated LinkedIn post and will receive a letter of recommendation after completing the program.
