Running for Rosie: My Journey to the Philadelphia Marathon
This fall, I will embark on running the Philadelphia Marathon with team Run to Remember.
My grandmother, Rose Duncan (Rosie), passed away in 2012 after a long severe battle with Alzheimer’s. The disease had a big impact on our family then, and continues to take a toll on families throughout the world. I am running to support Alzheimer’s Association and their mission to help families and fight the impacts from the disease.
In the last two years, I’ve embarked on a journey of reclaiming my health. I’ve gone from morbid obesity to completely transforming myself to a marathoner. After completing several half marathon events, this event will be my very first road marathon, a milestone I never imagined achieving.
I want to make this race to mean more than just me and my journey, I’m drumming support for #TeamAlz to honor my grandma and make a difference.
Funds raised will go directly to supporting families and caregivers facing the emotional and financial burdens of Alzheimer’s. These resources are lifelines for so many—providing guidance, relief, and hope where it’s needed most.
Every contribution, big or small, helps fuel my motivation to crush the race and honor Rosie’s memory.
Thank you for your support, generosity, and belief in this cause. Let’s make every mile count.
With gratitude,
Greg
