2026 Run to Remember - Philadelphia

I'm fundraising for... My Grandmother, Charlotte Saracene

Hi everyone! My name is Kenzie, and I am the founder of Morey Fitness, a community centered around mental health and movement. I also teach fitness classes throughout the city.

I run the Philadelphia Half every year, and this year, I am running for a very special cause.

My beautiful grandmother, Charlotte Saracene, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. Having a firsthand perspective on just how tragic this disease can be, I wanted to find a way to make an impact.

My grandmother was a long-distance runner and cross-country skier. I did not get these genes from my grandmother… in fact, I hate running. But when I am running, it is when I feel the most connected to her. I know it was something she truly loved, and I find immense joy in being able to run in her honor.

I am not only running for my grandmother, but for my grandfather, too. My grandfather has personally cared for my grandma for almost a decade. He has shown me what unconditional love, devotion, and an unwavering belief in God look like. The way he has stood by her and cared for her inspires me every single day.

Lastly, I am running for my mom. Watching her navigate this experience is something I will never fully be able to put into words. I know how deeply this disease has affected her, and I don’t say it nearly enough, but I love you, Mom.

This year, every mile means a little more. I am running for my grandmother, for my grandfather, for my mom, and for every family who knows what it feels like to watch someone they love live with Alzheimer’s.

By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.

Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk, and we must come together to change the course of this disease.

Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention, and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.  Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!

My uncle was stricken with early onset dementia. We lost him at 61 to this horrible disease. It was so hard to watch a once talented musician with an incredible sense of humor turn into an empty shell of the man he once was. I hope that we will see a cure for this devastating illness in my lifetime and definitely in yours. Thank you for raising money for this ! I hope you PR!!! 💜
