May your memory be eternal
After losing our mother to Alzheimer's, we knew we wanted to honor her memory in a way that would make a difference. Our mother battled Alzheimer’s for the last 4 years of her life. In a moment of great lucidity on the Saturday morning preceding her death, Lilyan Shepardson informed her family that she had discussed it with God and decided she was ready to die. We say this as one of her most outstanding traits was that she would be the master of her destiny, making her own decisions. Lilyan possessed extraordinary fortitude, independence, and determination. This core of iron was tempered by the profound and generous love and affection she showered on everyone around her. She greeted everyone with hugs, kisses and a way of letting us know she was still our mother and grandmother. She died as she lived, surrounded by love, family and friends.
Please help support the critical work of the Alzheimer's Association: providing care and support for families, advancing promising research and offering a lifeline through their free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900). Every dollar raised helps ensure that no one faces Alzheimer's alone.
We would be so grateful if you would make a memorial gift in mom's name. It would mean a lot to us and those facing this relentless disease.
A future without Alzheimer's is out there.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
