Tribute Updates
Mary Linda White
Mary Linda White passed away April 30, 2026. She was born on November 17, 1939 to William Floyd Gregory and Mary Faye Clouse Gregory. She graduated from Quanah High School in 1958 and attended Texas Tech where she met her husband, James Eldon White. They were married on June 24, 1959 and had two children; Charles Edward and Mary Elizabeth.
Mary was a stay-at-home mother for many years before becoming the church secretary at Oakwood Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member. She then worked at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center with residents in the Department of Surgery and Burn Unit. After retirement, she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her, Picabo.
Mary loved shopping and anything sweet– specifically lemon cake, donuts and coke floats. She enjoyed having her family over for meals and always insisted she do all of the cooking. They were happy to oblige—especially if it meant she would make her famous chocolate cake.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, son and parents. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Bramlet (Larry); grandchildren, Jill Elizabeth Reece (Jordan) and Jake Ty Bramlet (Kendall), four great-grandchildren Laurel Belle, Preston Lee and Lottie Mae Reece and Weston Wayne Bramlet; along with one sister, Nancy Gregory.
Because of her support of the Health Sciences Center, her body has been donated to science to help advance medical knowledge.
A visitation will be held in honor of Mary on May 16 from 2-4 p.m. at Southcrest Baptist Church, Entrance D, Room 1,000.
In lieu of flowers, Mary’s family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name: https://events.alz.org/fundraisers/bethbramlet/mary-linda-white
