Dancing for my Pop

Tuesday 10th Feb
My dad has had Alzheimer's for 13 years.  He no longer knows my name, but he recognizes my face.  When I visit, he still tells embarrassing stories about my childhood and laughs even though I can't tell what he's saying.

My Pop taught me about compassion and loving unconditionally.  It's because of him that I've committed my life to volunteering.  One of my proudest moments was being asked to serve on the board of my local Habitat for Humanity.  He was so proud of being part of President Carter's work project.

And while my Pop and I haven't always agreed on politics, he taught me to speak out on issues. I felt his passion when I canvassed in the last presidential election and whenever I raise awareness about voter rights.

This fundraiser is for my Pop and the millions living with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

I love you.

Mimi
