Patricia “Pat” Ann Heger passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Orange County, California, just one day after celebrating her 90th birthday. She faced dementia with quiet strength, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Pat was one of eight children of the late Roderick and Harriette (Campbell) MacNeil. She grew up in Boston and later moved with her family to the suburb of East Weymouth. Pat graduated from Catholic high school in Boston, and also completed secretarial school in 1955. After dating for four long years, she married “the boy next door,” Carl F. Heger, in 1957— a love story that began in their youth and lasted 54 wonderful years until his passing. Staying local, together they created a wonderful home in North Weymouth, and raised their two children, Kevin and Karen. In 1984, seeking sunshine and new opportunities, Pat and her husband moved to Southern California, eventually settling in Anaheim and later Menifee. She carried her New England roots with her while embracing her new community with enthusiasm. Pat was a hardworking and dedicated professional, building a successful career as an administrative assistant, office manager, and property manager. She took pride in her work and earned numerous awards and accolades. She also achieved a personal milestone by earning her Associate degree from Fullerton College. She found joy in friendships, laughter, and experiences. She was an active member of bowling leagues, Toastmasters, the Red Hat Society, the Sun City Women’s Group, Hope Hospice support, and her church community—always eager to connect, contribute, and brighten the lives of those around her. She had a deep love for the beach and ocean. Her many interests and hobbies kept her involved and active as she retired. She loved to dance, travel, sew, embroider, quilt, read, bake, and tend to her gardens. Pat is lovingly remembered by her children, Kevin W. Heger (wife Kelly) of Taunton, MA, and Karen A. Heger of Anaheim Hills, CA; her grandchildren Patrick, Lindsay, Scott, Ashlee, and Alisha; and her great-grandchildren Slade and Bowie. She is also survived by her brothers Frederick ‘Fred’ (wife Carolyn) of Corona, CA, and Francis ‘Frank’ (wife Ronnie) of Palm Beach, Florida, along with many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Chapel of Orange, 215 North Grand Avenue, Orange, CA 92866.In the summertime, Pat’s ashes will be returned to Massachusetts, honoring her roots and the place where her story began. Thank you for your donation.
We are sorry for your loss. Pat was not only a loving mom and grandma, but also a dear friend. Her kindness, friendship and her loving smile will always be remembered and deeply missed.
