Together, we commemorate the life of

Marianne Nickels

By Keith Nickels

In memory of the best teacher ever.

It started slowly. We didn't even realize it was happening. Getting lost, driving to different locations. Something mom had done throughout our lives, resulting in lots of laughter and great memories. She was forgetting little things that seemed inconsequential. In hindsight, it probably should have been more obvious. The early signs of a devastating disease, that we had seen with others. The diagnosis came and our worst fears came true. Alzheimer's.

For 6 years, her independence, her love, her light was taken, little by little, until on March 2, 2026, it took her life. The teacher. The mother. The leader and adventurer was taken. Not all at once, but one piece at a time.

In honor of Marianne, we are asking anyone who can afford it, to support the critical work of the Alzheimer's Association: providing care and support for families, advancing promising research and offering a lifeline through their free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900). Every dollar raised helps ensure that no one faces Alzheimer's alone.

I'd be so grateful if you would make a memorial gift in Marianne's name. It would mean a lot to us and those facing this relentless disease.

A future without Alzheimer's is out there.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
