Mom was first diagnosed in 2019, though we knew something was amiss beforehand. The formal diagnosis was devastating to our family—and most of all to her. She was still very cognizant at that stage. While none of us could know for sure how the disease would unfold, we read, we researched, we laughed, and we cried. It is an insidious disease.
We kept being told that research was on the precipice of a breakthrough. Whether or not that was true, we will never know. What matters now is ensuring that research continues to progress, for all our sakes.
Mom’s loving spirit for her family remained with her until the very end. We were fortunate that her love for us was among her final communications. Alzheimer’s impacts families, not just individuals. Donations support the entire journey—from research to care.
Thank you for your love, support, and kindness to our family, and for helping in the effort to overcome this relentless disease.
Sending love and condolences.
