I'm fundraising for my dad, Yuriy Bihun, the Camel’s Hump Challenge Champion of the Year.

I grew up in Vermont skiing with my dad. But for those that knew him, he was much quicker going up than going down. By the time I was 5 years old or so, I was skiing circles around him at Smuggs. Though I spent my youth skiing and downhill racing, I began to follow my dad into the backcountry in my early adulthood. I would join him occasionally on CHC trail maintenance days and skied the Challenge with him on a few occasions. Memories that I hold amongst my dearest.   

We lost my dad in the late summer of 2024, but throughout my life, he instilled in me a love and appreciation for the mountains and the forests that I will keep with me forever. I hope that my participation in the CHC this year will honor his memory. 

From 2006 to 2020, my dad was truly dedicated to the cause behind the Challenge and by participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care and support efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.

Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk, and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
