Miles for Memories

I’m running a marathon in memory of my great-grandma, who lived with dementia, and to raise money and awareness for the many families affected by this disease.

I’m running a marathon in memory of my great-grandma, who lived with dementia, and to raise money and awareness for the many families affected by this disease.

If you knew my great-grandma, you knew she had a little fiery kick to her. She was the sweetest, kindest lady, but she was certainly not afraid to share her opinion. She had her own way of doing things, plenty of pizzazz, and somehow always managed to let you know exactly what she was thinking. And honestly, we loved her for it. Behind that little bit of sass was one of the most genuinely kind people I’ve ever known. She cared deeply about the people around her and had a way of making people feel loved. Dementia eventually took away pieces of her that made it harder for her to remember the people and moments she loved, but it could never take away the impact she had on our family.

My connection to this cause goes beyond my own family, too. I have had the opportunity to work in nursing homes and care for other older adults, including individuals living with dementia. Those experiences have shown me just how much dementia affects not only the person experiencing it, but their families, caregivers, and everyone who loves them. They have also taught me how important patience, compassion, dignity, and a little humor can be when caring for someone.

So, I’m running a marathon in my great-grandma’s honor—and I have a feeling she would have had a few opinions about my decision to voluntarily run that far.

Every mile is for a memory.
Every mile is for a family.
Every mile is for the people who deserve to be remembered.

If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, I would be incredibly grateful. Your support will help contribute to dementia research, awareness, care, and resources for individuals and families affected by this disease.

I'm running Miles for Memories - for my great-grandma, for her memories, and for everyone affected by dementia. And if she were here, I’m sure she’d have something to say about my running plan, too.

My marathon is on April 24, 2027.
My goal is to fundraise $2,620.

I will be posting the updates on TikTok and tying each milestone to an event:
