In memory of Marvin Ives

Marvin Ives grew up in Queens, NY surrounded by the love of his parents and his brother, Stanley. He was a hardworking, dedicated, and determined man whose career meant a great deal to him. As a metal trader, Marvin took tremendous pride in his work, staying committed to his profession until the very last day of his life. While studying at NYU, he met the love of his life—my mom, Mona. She was everything to him. They shared a beautiful marriage of 49 years before she passed away from Parkinson’s disease. After losing her, my dad soon began his own journey with Alzheimer’s. Marvin and Mona built a full and loving life together on Long Island, where they raised my brother and me—and we remain incredibly close to this day. Throughout both of our parents’ illnesses, my brother and I stood side by side, ensuring they were always supported, cherished, and cared for. Marvin was also a devoted grandfather, whose four grandchildren brought him immense joy. Marvin had a deep passion for golf and sports (Penn State), but his greatest devotion was always to his family. As the years went on, my dad began to lose many memories, but he never lost the deep sense of love he had for us. “Even when the mind forgets, the heart remembers.” May his memory be a blessing.
