NYC Marathon

I'm fundraising for...

Carolyn Barr. Not a day goes by without thinking of Carolyn and the light she brought into our lives.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Since Carolyn passed from Alzheimer's Disease in 2023, we have continued to honor her memory by providing advice and comfort to other families struggling with the disease, and by working to provide the resources needed to fund critical research on diagnoses, treatments, and someday a cure.

To that end, I’ve decided to dust off my running shoes and train for the NYC Marathon as part of Team ALZ. The race is on November 1, 2026.  Last year’s NYC Marathon Team ALZ raised over $1 million dollars for Alzheimer's care, support and research, which has resulted for the first time in treatments that slow the progression of the disease.  Katherine and I would be incredibly grateful for any support you can provide to help me meet my personal fundraising goal of $5,000 so that we can keep up the momentum toward a cure to this terrible disease.

By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.  Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. We must come together to change the course of this disease.

Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention, and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.

Thank you for helping me honor Carolyn’s memory and for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!

Running for a Reason

My journey back to marathon training was unlikely, but here we are!! I ran the Marine Corps Marathon all the way back in 2007, and it was going to take something pretty serious to get me to run another 26.2 mile race. That something is the chance to help advance toward treatment for Alzheimer’s. If you are reading this post, you know that Katherine’s mom and grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s. So our family has seen first hand the devastating effects of the disease. The opportunity to do something that may help other families is what will get me off the couch and onto the pavement. Please help support my efforts through a donation of whatever you can!
