Many of us have dear relatives that have been diagnosed with dementia that is likely to be caused by Alzheimer's disease. Last year I learned that I myself am likely to be a carrier for a gene associated with developing it. The number of Americans with the condition is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050.
