I'm fundraising for...

My grandparents and a future without Alzheimer's.
Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia have woven themselves through generations of my family. Running 26.2 miles through the city I love and call home with TEAM ALZ is my way of turning love and loss into action.
My grandpa, "Pip," is living with dementia. The disease has slowly stolen his storytelling, his humor, and his independence. We grieve those changes while holding onto the moments that remain, like the smile that still lights up the room when we're together. Beside him is my grandma, "Mimi," his wife, devoted caregiver, and the most selfless person I know. This past year, they celebrated 59 years of marriage, a testament to their promise of "in sickness and in health." They are the reason I run. I know these challenges are familiar to far too many families, and that shared heartbreak is exactly what drives me and so many of us forward.
Every mile through these streets, from training to race day, I will carry their story with me. When race day arrives, the city will too, and together we will run (and cheer!) toward a future without Alzheimer's.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's today, and that number is expected to nearly double to 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk, and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
By supporting my run, you're helping the Alzheimer's Association advance care, fund research, and work toward what we all hope for: a cure. Every dollar makes a difference. Please consider making a donation, and thank you for joining the fight. I hope to see you on race day!!
All the love,
Courtney 💜
