26.2 Miles for Abu

I’m honored to be running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon with TEAM ALZ in memory of my grandpa, Dr. Mario Rodolfo Pineda, my Abu.

Abu was brilliant, loving, and deeply devoted to his family and his work as a physician. He dedicated his life to helping others, and losing him to Alzheimer’s/dementia changed our family forever.

Anyone who has watched someone they love go through this disease knows it does not only affect one person. It affects the entire family, the people who love them, care for them, remember who they were, and carry their story forward.

Running has always been one of the places where I feel strongest. This marathon is more than 26.2 miles to me. Every mile through New York will be for Abu, for my family, and for every family affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Through TEAM ALZ, I’m raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association to support care, advocacy, awareness, and research in the fight to end Alzheimer’s.

Any donation, big or small, means so much. Thank you for helping me honor Abu and carry his memory through 26.2 miles.
