In Memory of Edith "Terry" Alberts

Edith “Terry” Cox Alberts, born December 3, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away on August 13, 2026. Terry lived in Bay Head, New Jersey, where she shared her life with her husband, James Alberts. She was the loving mother of Bentley Alberts, Elizabeth Alberts Juleff, and James C. Alberts, and a cherished grandmother to Libby Christenson, Claire Christenson, Sophie Vanell, Joseph Latona, Max Alberts, James Alberts, and Jack Alberts. After raising her children, Terry returned to higher education and graduated summa cum laude from Monmouth University and went on to earn a graduate degree in Library Science from Rutgers University. She went on to serve with distinction as a librarian with the Ocean County Library System for xx years. Her projects included spearheading the capital campaign for the renovation and expansion of the beautiful Point Pleasant Beach Library. Terry and her husband Jim, moved to Bay Head, NJ in 1984, where they took ownership of a bed and breakfast, that they renamed The Bentley Inn. Always social and committed to showing up wherever she was, Terry became a member of the Bay Head Garden Club, volunteered at the food bank and started a bridge club that brought friends together for years to come. She was brilliant and endlessly curious, always reading, always learning, always happiest surrounded by family. She was the most wonderful host, every table she set was beautiful, and everyone who sat at it felt cared for. When Alzheimer’s took hold, it was painful and challenging, especially as she moved through the progressive stages. But she also became more present and fuller of wonder for small things, animals, babies, flowers, funny people, and warm sunlight on her skin. She laughed more easily, marveled at more things, and lived, fully, in each moment, because each moment was all she had. Terry will be remembered and deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
