Patty was a champion in the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. After watching her young mother and sisters develop the disease, Patty began participating in research. She was involved in numerous research studies over 27 years, participating until the fall of 2022. She served on the board and as the route planner for the cycling Memory Ride for Alzheimer’s Research, (now the Alzheimer’s Association Ride to End Alzheimer’s), which has raised millions of dollars for research towards a cure.
Patty leaves behind her faithful husband and partner, Peter, who cared for her for many years. Her children, Paula Bickom (David), Deb Pierson (Jeff), Kevin Barbato (Lesli) and daughter-in-love Kristi Barbato McClymont. She adored her ten grandchildren: Jackie and Liz Pierson, Alexandra Barbato Barlow (Clay), Andrew, Bryan and Paige Barbato, Brandon and Kayla Bickom, and Peter and Zac Barbato. Patty’s siblings include John E Noonan III (Donna) and Julie Noonan Lawson (Bill). She was greeted in heaven by her son, Michael Barbato, as well as many siblings and precious friends. Many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends were also part of Patty’s full life of love.
Donations made in honor of Patty will go toward the Manhattan Walk to End Alzheimer's Team Walk 4 Patty and will be used exclusively to support the research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Patty's granddaughter Liz is the co-chair of the Manhattan Walk to End Alzheimer's and a member of the junior board of the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. She became involved with the Walk to honor her grandmother as well as her great grandmother, great aunts, and great uncle who have passed from genetic early-onset Alzheimer's. Liz and her family hope that advancements in research will stop this disease from affecting future generations.
