I'm fundraising for 33, 343, END ALZ
I ran in 2023 for my mother who has been living with dementia for many years. I was never a runner but trained for 7 months and finished the race fueled by all the positive vibes and support that I received.
I decided to run again this year with the FDNY in mind and the 25th anniversary of 9/11… and as always, for my mother. I have been retired from running but gearing up for a comeback!
- My father was the primary caregiver for my mother until his passing in 2021. He worked over 30 years in the FDNY. He started at Ladder 33 in the Bronx in 1967. I run for him and all family members and caregivers that make the quality of life for those suffering from dementia better.
- The 25th anniversary of 9/11 is important to me. I want to honor the 343 that died on that terrible day and the many other WTC first responders that have developed health issues over the years from 9/11. One of the health issues discovered is early onset dementia. Hopefully, early onset dementia can be one of the reversible health impacts from 9/11 and the Alzheimer’s Association can help with that cause.
- My mother is always at the center of why I stand with the Alzheimer’s Association. She benefits from great care from loving people, excellent nutrition, proper sleep and appropriate medication. Hopefully, one day with the work and research that the Alzheimer’s Association supports, we will END ALZ.
