Honoring Othella: A Marathon Fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association

Othella lives on in our memories as a remarkable family member, educator, and friend. She modeled how to live a generous life, always finding opportunities support others and share what she had. Through her own battle with Alzheimer's disease, her gentleness, love of laughter, and care for others never waivered.

Othella benefitted from the profound support of a loving and devoted spouse, daughter, and extended family in addition to home care and health services. Today, the more than 7 million Americans who live with Alzheimer's are supported by nearly 12 million unpaid caregivers. The Alzheimer's Association supports patients and caregivers with a 24/7 helpline, care navigating, support groups, educational offerings, and more.

Although there is promising research, there is a long way to go to improve diagnostics and treatments for Alzheimer's, and to reach a cure. 13 million more Americans are projected to develop Alzheimer's by 2050, but federal funding for Alzheimer's research has been reduced. Philanthropic contributions are more important than ever to ensure groundbreaking research can continue, and we can reach a world without Alzheimer's.

Please consider making a contribution in Othella's memory to support other families navigating the heartbreak and practical challenges of supporting a loved one with Alzheimer's and to continue research to help others live longer, healthier lives.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
