In memory of Alan
Alan R. Traeger passed away on August 12, 2026 at the age of 83 after a wonderful and meaningful life. A dedicated educator and advocate for children with special needs, Alan's first priority was always his wife Nancy, the love of his life; his children, Michele and Lara (Charles), his grandchildren Courtney, Nathaniel, Eli, and Emeline, his family, and his friends. Forever a “Brooklyn kid” at heart no matter where he lived, Alan led with love, patience, and generosity of spirit. Whether you found Alan at the beach, the tennis courts, or his favorite pastry shop, it was always with a two-finger wave hello, an open-ear, and a kibitz for anyone who crossed his path. We would have loved for more days walking with him along the ocean or the Highline.
