Dad’s Final Year with Alzheimer’s
On July 16, 2025, the progression of Dad’s Alzheimer’s became unmistakably clear. In a sudden and heartbreaking moment, he looked at his wife of 55 years — a woman he had known for 72 of his 77 years — and asked, “Why are you in my house? I’m looking for my wife.”
That moment marked a turning point.
What had once been subtle memory lapses evolved into profound cognitive changes. Familiar faces became unfamiliar. Time blurred. His sense of home and identity shifted. There were days of confusion and disorientation, and moments when reality seemed to fracture in front of those who loved him most.
As the disease advanced, his need for structured, professional care increased. The decision to transition him into assisted care was not made lightly; it was made out of love, protection, and a deep desire to preserve his dignity and safety.
Alzheimer’s gradually took pieces of his memory, but it never erased the life he lived, the family he built, or the legacy he leaves behind. Even as recognition faded, his worth, his history, and his love remained.

Praying for the Stormo family that God will share his constant love to bring them comfort and healing. We love you!
