A Legacy of Faith, Love, and Unending Kindness

Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind a legacy of love so profound that it lives on in everyone fortunate enough to have known them. Anna was one of those extraordinary people. A devoted mother of three, grandmother of two, and great-grandmother of three, she was the heart and soul of our family. But her love extended far beyond those connected to her by blood. She was an unofficial adoptive mother to many, always opening her heart, her home, and her arms to anyone who needed kindness, comfort, or a place to belong. She was, quite simply, one of the kindest and most giving souls you could ever hope to meet. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she spent her life putting others before herself. She gave without expecting anything in return, loved without condition, and had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special, valued, and deeply cared for. Her Byzantine Catholic faith was the foundation upon which she built her life. She lived that faith not only through prayer, but through her actions — in the compassion she showed, the sacrifices she made, and the unwavering love she offered to others. She was a beautiful example of what it means to live a life rooted in faith, grace, and service. She was our family's pillar, our constant, and our source of unconditional love. For generations, she was the person we turned to, the one who held us together, and the steady presence that made our family feel like home. Although dementia slowly took pieces of the woman we knew, it could never erase the love she had given us or the countless lives she had touched. Her illness may have changed the final chapters of her story, but it will never define the beautiful life she lived. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord, free from the suffering she endured. Her greatest legacy will never be measured in years, but in the lives she shaped, the faith she passed down, and the love that will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many others who were blessed to call her family. She was the heart of our family, and while that heart may no longer beat beside us, its love will carry us for generations to come. In her honor, we hope to support research into dementia and other neurological diseases so that one day, fewer families will have to experience the heartbreak of watching someone they love slowly slip away.
