Susan Rebecca Stolfa, 81, a resident of Chandler, AZ, passed away from Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Susan was born in Paris, Illinois, on August 17, 1944, the daughter of Robert Allen and Betty Jane Sproat.Born and raised in Illinois, Susan raised her six children in the Chicagoland area. Susan earned her Master’s degree in Religious Studies from Benedictine University, then went on to work for the Diocese of Joliet, IL. Advancing in her career, she moved to Washington, DC and worked for The Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Throughout her career, Susan was also a consultant, grant writer, and mentor to many. She worked tirelessly for social justice and to solve the root causes of poverty in the country. Susan fell in love with the mountains and quality of life in the Southwest and moved to Jerome, Arizona, over 30 years ago. A forever gypsy and lover of travel, she lived in Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico. As a deeply spiritual person, she believed that we are all spiritual beings on a human journey. She loved nature and art, telling stories to her family and friends while spreading joy and love with her radiant smile and joyous laughter.Susan is preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by her sisters Regina (the late Alan) Sagen and Laura Marsh (Brian); her children John, Matthew, Adam, and Sarah Stolfa (Michael Ruddy), Xiem Gutschow and Christine Carpenter (the late Gene); her grandchildren, Christian, Madeline, Margret, Maxwell, and Nicola Stolfa, Ash and Lincoln Stolfa Sconyers, Mackenzie Carpenter, Dylan Gutschow, Kelsie Zimmerman (Kyle), and her great grandchildren Miles and Emma Zimmerman.
