I'm fundraising for my late grandmothers Evelyn and Sheila
Running the NYC Marathon had always been a big-ticket bucket list item for me, and when I finally committed to applying, I relished the opportunity to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association. My grandma Evy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease about nine years ago - it was one of the first times in my life I experienced a family member being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Years later, my grandma Sheila suffered a very similar fate. Yet throughout their respective battles, I’d momentarily forget that they’d been shackled by something so severe and debilitating. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the only thing more profound than their love for life itself was the love they held for everyone in it. And that’s how I’ll remember them.
It can be disheartening when progress that once seemed inevitable appears to be stagnant. However, I firmly believe that if we come together in support, we can positively impact a cause that’s greater than ourselves.
Please join me in the fight against this disease. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs, and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention, and ultimately a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
