Together, we commemorate the life of
Nitza Martinez

For Nitza’s lively memory
October 30th — mi mamá’s birthday. A true Scorpio if there ever was. Strong, passionate, full of life, and always a little mysterious. This year she would’ve been 73, and this November marks eight years since she left us.
She passed at 65, just ten days after her birthday, after battling early-onset dementia. There’s no easy way to say it… she left us too soon.
My mom was vivacious, complex, and full of corazón. She could light up a room with her laugh, dance salsa like nobody’s business, and cook food that brought everyone together. She was a storyteller, a dreamer, and a fighter. She became a teen mom at 15 to my brother, and then had me 18 years later. Her life was her kids, and her life was love.
I just wish she had more time to love her own life the way she loved everyone else’s. To see her grandkids grow. To keep dancing. To keep being her.
We miss her every day. While there’s peace in knowing she’s not suffering anymore, we’ll never stop wishing for more time.
I created this page in her honor — to help fight Alzheimer’s and dementia so no family has to lose someone they love this young. Every little bit helps. Thank you in advance of helping me honor her.
