4th Annual RAK of the Month Fundraiser
November: A Month of Love, Memory, and Hope 💜The month of November means so much more to me than just the start of the holiday season. It’s Herm’s birthday month — and it’s also my month, as a RAK Ambassador, to raise funds for a charity close to my heart. This year marks my 4th annual fundraiser as RAK ambassador in honor of my dad, “Pappy Herm”, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in late 2019. For those who may not know, Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that slowly destroys memory and other important mental functions. But it’s more than just memory loss — it affects the whole body and every part of a person’s daily life.Anyone who has witnessed or lived through Alzheimer’s knows it doesn’t just take a toll on the person diagnosed, but also on the family, friends, and caregivers who love them. My dad still resides at Cedar Grove Assisted Living in Parkersburg, WV, where he receives around-the-clock care. My brother, Pec, visits often and does everything he can to make sure Dad’s days are filled with comfort and dignity.I’ve chosen the Alzheimer’s Association not only for my father, but for every family that may one day face this heartbreaking disease. There is no cure yet — but that doesn’t mean there never will be. It may not come soon enough to help Dad, but maybe, with continued research and awareness, the next generation won’t have to experience this same pain.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world. And if you can’t right now, I completely understand — times are tough. Even a simple share or retweet helps spread awareness and makes a difference. This year, our goal is $1,200, and every single dollar counts. On November 29th, I’ll be hosting our annual Score Board fundraiser for the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan Wolverines game. All proceeds will go directly to our tribute page, and there will be some awesome Ohio State memorabilia up for grabs! Over the past three years, we’ve raised $4815 — maybe this year, we can reach $6000 together!
Please remember to be kind, be respectful, and tell your loved ones you love them — every chance you get. 💜
I joined the fight against Alzheimer's by creating an online tribute page in my loved one's honor. By taking this step, I'm raising funds to support the critical work of the Alzheimer's Association: providing care and support for families, advancing promising research and offering a lifeline through their free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900). Every dollar raised helps ensure that no one faces Alzheimer's alone.
I'd be so grateful if you would make a gift in honor of them. It would mean a lot to me and those facing this relentless disease. A future without Alzheimer's is out there. Let's get there, together. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
