We're fundraising for Chris Hilburn
Our team is running the 2026 New York City Marathon for the Alzheimer's Association, and we wanted to share a little bit about why.
A few years ago, the father of three of our teammates was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's at the age of 58. He was a gifted college athlete who raised three sons who all went on to become Division 1 athletes. He is the kind of man who led by example his entire life, and watching this disease slowly chip away at his everyday life has been something his family has carried quietly for a long time.
Last year, his sons ran the marathon for the first time in his honor. What started as a way to do something meaningful for him became something much bigger. Connecting with the Alzheimer's Association, meeting other families going through the same thing, and raising money toward research and support reminded all of us that no one should have to face this alone.
Race day last year said it all. He stood on the course and watched his three boys run through New York City with his name across their chests. Thousands of people cheered for him without knowing a thing about him. For those of us who do know him, it was a day none of us will forget.
This year we come back as a fuller team, more motivated than ever. We are running to honor him, to support the countless other families living with this disease, and to raise as much money as we possibly can for the research that could one day change everything.
