I'm fundraising in memory of Glenda Mae Seitz
My grandmother lived with dementia for most of my life. From the time I was in middle school, our family watched her slowly slip away, and this summer, we lost her to this disease. It has been one of the longest, most quietly heartbreaking journeys of our lives, and the absence of her bright light is still something we're learning to carry.
I run because I can. So much of my motivation has always been tied to knowing my grandmother never really could, and every mile I log feels like something I'm doing for both of us. This November, I'll be running the New York City Marathon with the Alzheimer's Association, and I can't think of a more meaningful way to honor her memory.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and that number is expected to nearly double to 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk, and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
If you'd like to support me and the millions of families who know this heartbreak firsthand please consider making a donation. Every dollar raised goes directly toward the Alzheimer's Association's care and support programs and research toward better treatments, prevention, and ultimately, a cure.
Thank you for supporting this cause and my sweet grandmother's memory. 💜
