In Honor of My Mother, Ruby Crosland Mingo
I am creating this page to honor my mother, Ruby, whose life was filled with love, faith, and grace—even as she faced the challenges of dementia. This tribute is a way to celebrate her legacy, share her story, and help others understand the strength and dignity of those living with this disease.
Living with vascular dementia took so much from my mom—her memory, her independence, and parts of her that made her who she was—but it never took her spirit. Even in the most difficult moments, her faith and love shone through. Creating this page allows me to keep her memory alive while raising awareness and funds for research, care, and support for families walking this same path.
As my mother’s dementia worsened and I began sharing more of our journey, I realized just how many families around me were also affected by this disease. Alzheimer’s is not just an individual struggle—it ripples through entire families and communities. I want to help beat this disease, so that no other family must face the pain and heartbreak that we did. Your donation can help make a difference in the lives of others, offering both hope and healing.
During my caregiving journey, I often felt uncertain and alone—until I found the caregiver support groups through the Alzheimer’s Association. Those groups helped ease my isolation and the constant worry about whether I was “getting it right.” They offered me compassion, understanding, and the reminder that I wasn’t alone. I am forever grateful for that community of care.
This page is both a love letter to my mother and a call to action. It’s a space for family and friends to remember her, to share stories, and to continue her legacy of kindness, faith, and compassion by supporting the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission. Together, we can honor her life by helping to create a future without Alzheimer’s.
