About 48 Peaks - part of Do What You Love to End ALZ™
Established as an official event of Do What You Love to End ALZ™ in 2015 (formerly The Longest Day), each summer 400+ hikers climb the 48 4,000 footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the quest to end Alzheimer’s and dementia. With each step hikers raise vital funding for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. In 2025, 115 teams raised $215,000 and since its inception, over $1.3 million has been raised for the Alzheimer's Association!
Where there is strength there is hope. 48 Peaks is a reminder that we are strong, we can conquer mountains! Together we will send a message of hope to all those affected that one day Alzheimer’s and all other dementia will be nothing but a memory. JOIN US!
48 Peaks is one of many fundraising activities taking place around the globe in support of Do What You Love to End ALZ: the do-it-yourself fundraising event of the Alzheimer's Association. People pick any activity and date to invite friends, family and communities to participate and donate. It's the perfect way to honor someone you love by doing something you love - like hiking!

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. Visit our contact us page if you need further help!
When should I hike?
Any day that works for you and your team - safety first! Our annual Hiker Celebration will be Saturday, June 13th at Ledge Brewing in Intervale, NH so feel free to plan around that date, or any time that works for you this summer! You are welcome to hike all summer long, whenever it's best for you and your team.
What can I hike?
You are welcome to hike any of NH's 4,000 footers (it's okay if we have more than one team on each peak), or Create Your Own Challenge.
Pick whatever is best for you and your team whether it's a Pemi Loop or Mt. Pemi, or anything in between.
What if I don't know what peak I want to hike yet?
No problem! Feel free to register and select "unknown" when selecting your peak. We can always edit that down the road!
What peaks are left?
Check out our Facebook group as we update our "unclaimed peaks". While our goal is to have at least 1 team on each of the 48 all summer long, it's totally okay to repeat! We often have a handful of teams on peaks like Moosilauke and Pierce so choose whatever is best for you and your team.
When will I get my shirt?
48 Peaks participants who individually fundraise $125 will receive our 2026 performance-grade t-shirt! We will be mailing in two batches: Those who raise $125 by mid-May will receive theirs at the beginning of June. Then, anyone after mid-May will be sent on a rolling basis, but we cannot guarantee it's arrival by your hike date.
$125 will earn you the t-shirt and a ticket to our annual Hiker Celebration at Ledge Brewing on 6/13.
Are there teams I can join?
Stay tuned!
How do I sign up as an individual?
During the registration process, you'll get to a screen that says "Create or Join a Team", select "No Thanks" to have only a personal page created.
