Alzheimer's 500
ALZ 500 holds a special place in my heart. I grew up in a car-loving and engine revving family. My dad and uncle spent countless hours one summer crafting derby cars for my sisters and me. (And yes, I took home first place in my age group!)
My Aunt Deb was always right there with us—part of every family gathering, every laugh, every finish line.
Nearly 15 years ago, everything changed when she was diagnosed with early‑onset Alzheimer’s disease. The fast‑paced life we were used to slowed down in ways we never expected. Watching someone so central to our family change and not feeling like I was able to do anything about it was heartbreaking,
That’s why ALZ 500 means so much to me. It reconnects me with the world of loud engines and high speeds that shaped my childhood—while fueling a purpose I’m fiercely committed to doing what I can.
