OUR STORY
Pure Storage's annual Philly March Madness event is proud to partner with the local Alzheimer's Association in fundraising efforts in the fight against Alzheimer's. Thank you to all of my family, friends, and colleagues for supporting me and my family and this cause so close to our heart.
It began with confusion over simple day to day tasks and after many doctors appointments and multiple specialist visits, a CT Scan of the brain was recommended. My mother, Carol, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease, in her early 50's. It was the most shocking day of my family's life.
Each year brought a new set of challenges to my mother and our family. We watched her health deteriorate as this disease continued to progress, we all felt so helpless. Her last two years required around the clock attention with the help of family, her friends, and a home health aide. With each stage of the disease it felt like we were losing her over and over again.
On January 7th, 2021 my mother passed away in her home, at the young age of 58. She was taken far too soon.
After my mother's passing, I chose to participate with the The Longest Day, now Do What You Love to End ALZ, and the local Alzheimer's Association, a great way to raise awareness and fight back against this awful disease, plus a way to honor my Mother, Carol.
The Steitz family deeply thanks you for your support in honoring Carol, we miss her dearly.
This terrible disease has affected many of us and we want to come together with the local Alzheimer's community to make a difference. The money that we raise goes directly back to our local community to help patients and caregivers through the local Alzheimer's Association.
Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 7 million Americans. In the United States alone, 12 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
