73 Miles for 73 Years
Over 56 years ago, I spotted a stunning woman in a blue dress and never looked back. Today, my beloved wife Helen is in her 11th year living with Alzheimer's, and I'm in my ninth year riding to help end it.
This July 19th, I'll be marking my 73rd birthday on the Capital Trail — but I want to be clear: I won't be completing all 73 miles on that single day. Instead, I'll be riding to build toward that goal over time, because this journey, like the fight against Alzheimer's itself, isn't about one big moment. It's about showing up, mile after mile, day after day.
We'll be starting at Four Mile Creek Park in Henrico, and I would love for you to join me on July 19th. Whether you ride a mile or more, your presence means everything — because this isn't just my ride. Every mile I cycle is dedicated to my Helen, and to the 7 million Americans living with this devastating disease.
