I'm fundraising for Papa.
In recent years, I dedicated my fundraising efforts and thoughts to my father-in-law who bravely fought Alzheimer's disease. Bill passed away in July, so this year and in future years I'll ski in his memory.
Papa, or Captain Bill as we liked to call him, showed up all how to embrace challenge with dignity. Sure, he experienced frustration with his decline, but for the most part he embraced the world with a sense of wonder and awe and positivity that was special to see. Watching the bird feeder, the clouds in the sky, or a sporting event of one of his grandchildren, he would most often remark "wow.......". What a reminder to look around every day and acknowledge the wow that is around us.
Papa, you are missed and I'm honored to dedicate this event and ski around the Hump to your memory.
