Second Marathon this time in Denver

For my second Marathon (ever),  I’m running to support Alzheimer’s research and awareness

My connection to this cause is personal and a while ago it awakened my engineering curiousity. In 2017, I worked with the University of Edinburgh's Institute of Bioengineering studying neural tissue engineering, particularly characterizing polymer platforms in combination with ECM material that could (in theory) support neural tissue grow. That experience gave me a deeper appreciation for both the incredible complexity of the human brain and how much we still have left to understand.

Today, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and that number is projected to nearly double by 2050. Despite decades of research, there is still no cure, and current treatments can only modestly slow progression for some patients.

The human brain remains one of the least understood systems in science. Even tiny samples of brain tissue reveal staggering complexity. 

Research continues to uncover entirely new aspects of how the brain works from hidden neural wiring patterns to the possibility that support cells once thought passive may play major roles in memory and cognition.

I'd like to support continued research and advocacy for families facing this disease. Progress in neuroscience and bioengineering has opened new possibilities for earlier detection and treatment, but there is still a long road ahead.
