Hand-Made Quilled Greeting Cards

My name is Dolores Freudenberg. I make hand-made quilled greeting cards. The entire proceeds from the sale of a card are donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in tribute and memory of my late husband, Donald Freudenberg. He passed away in December of 2020, having suffered from a multiple of health issues, but for me and perhaps him also, the most devastating was the dementia that robbed him of his short term memory. While it had never been diagnosed as Alzheimer’s per se, I suspect that it may have been, because his mother in old age suffered from it also. Whether diagnosed as Alzheimer’s or not, the results were the same. At the end, it prevented us from having any meaningful conversations about anything current.  I believe, however, that I was one of the lucky caregivers, because no matter how frustrating it must have been for him, he remained the stoic, good-natured person that he had always been.

I have chosen the Alzheimer’s Association as the recipient of all proceeds I make for selling my greeting cards because I can truly empathize with the multitude of caregivers that lovingly attend the needs of their loved ones. It is my hope and prayer that someday a cure can be found for this dreadful debilitating disease.

A little bit about me now.  Although untrained as an artist, I have dabbled in the arts and crafts all of my 94 years of life, making posters for the numerous events I was active in, decorating bulletin boards at the church, making biblical scenes for vacation bible school, etc. I taught myself to quill many years ago when I delved into my family’s genealogy and created decorative albums of pictures and stories of the many branches of my family.
