Why We Do What We Love to End ALZ

The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) is the global authority shaping the future of aging. Since 2001, ICAA has led the transformation of the senior living industry from a care-based model to a wellness-based experience, influencing more than 10,000 senior living communities and organizations operating over 20,000 locations worldwide.

At the center of ICAA’s leadership is a clear conviction: the future of aging will not be defined by the care provided—but by the life enabled. Through this lens, ICAA equips organizations with the research, education, and evidence-informed tools—such as the ICAA Wellness Benchmarks, Wellness Audit, and Culinary & Hospitality Self-Assessment—to turn wellness into measurable outcomes, stronger experiences, and strategic advantage.

ICAA’s influence extends beyond the industry. As a trusted advisor, the association has worked with leading governmental and research bodies, including the U.S. Administration on Aging, the National Institute on Aging, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, helping shape the broader conversation on aging, health, and longevity.

Over the past 25 years, ICAA and its members have impacted millions of older adults worldwide—empowering longer, healthier, more engaged lives. This leadership is brought to life each year through Active Aging Week, a global movement engaging more than one million participants across thousands of locations.

ICAA continues to challenge the status quo and define what comes next—ensuring that as longevity increases, the experience of aging improves with it.

ICAA encourages its members to continue to inspire change by joining us in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association through Do What You Love to End ALZ before, during, and after Active Aging Week.
