As one fundraising season comes to an end, another begins. I'm not a 24/7 fundraiser -- my campaign will start in earnest summer 2027, but today is World Alzheimer's Day, making it an excellent time to update you on what the Alzheimer's Association is has been doing in their fight to end this terrible, cruel disease.

Of course, you don't have to wait until next year to donate! But today I want to share some good news:

This month, the House Ways and Means Committee unanimously voted to advance the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act. This vote marked the bill’s second major step forward in the House this week, advancing legislation that would clear the legal barrier keeping Medicare from covering early Alzheimer’s detection tests! The association's U.S. POINTER study results show a lifestyle program targeting improved nutrition, physical activity, cognitive engagement, and health monitoring improved cognition in older adults at risk of cognitive decline. Learn more about the study: https://www.alz.org/us-pointer

UPDATE: I am less than $100 away from hitting a milestone in my fundraising! If you haven't donated yet, please consider doing so before the end of June!
Earlier this month I stopped by BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Gainesville to drop off fun swag with assistant manager Darrius Ruff for their fundraising campaign starting June 25th! BJ's Restaurants, Inc., is proud to serve up support to fight Alzheimer's as the 8th Annual Proud Supporter of The Alzheimer's Association and Do What You Love to End ALZ. Darrius was excited for the swag and to start the campaign. In fact, it was Darrius who recruited last year's winning server Joelle to BJs! He brought her with him from their previous restaurant and I'm happy he did - last year Joelle raised the most ALZ donations by an individual server in Florida. You can't see it in the photo but the Central North Florida chapter of ALZ sent her a tiara in the swag bag.
