Why it's important to me
Thursday 12th Mar
Alzheimer's has always been something close to me. At a young age of 12 I would go with my mom to her work she was a nurse at a nursing home and I would spend time with the residents there on a regular basis and I would see residents who would begin to forget just that morning I was reading to them or doing their nails and would get hostile with me I slowly began to learn what Alzheimer's was. 10 years later I began working in home health with my primary focus being Alzheimer's and I remember it affecting me and making me hurt for the families to see their family member become a whole different person. I later got my CNA and work in a nursing home and my favorite area to work in is dementia bc I am drawn to trying to help them as much as I can by advocating for them. I am now also processing my grandpa having it and it's very hard and something I wish could be cured. I have chose to do something I love to honor those we all have lost physically or emotionally and mentally to this and anything you can do to help me support this helps more than you know.
