I support this cause for many reasons...

My maternal grandpa Art showed signs of Alzheimer's before his passing from a heart attack.  I recall my family being concerned about his driving first. He told them that he would go out to run errands and forget why he was out, and then ultimately return home.

Fast forward to 2011, when I worked in the office of a senior living campus. I got to know residents and family members who were living in Assisted Living and Memory Care apartments. I enjoyed helping this community of people. I also saw that better care and communication were so important to coping with the cognitive decline.

In 2018, I returned to college to become a nurse. I was inspired by the people I met in senior living, and wished to do more to help. In my work at the bedside with patients and families, I've utilized what I've come to learn about cognitive changes, medications, and care. 

I continue to support all those affected by cognitive impairment, dementia, and Alzheimer's. I work to provide resources, social connections, and honor for life memories. This is why I support the work of the Alzheimer's Association.
