Ted Lasso and Mom

Ted Lasso is back, y'all!  And I am not going to give away any spoilers, but it got me thinking about family.  Family was so important to my dad.  There is a scene in the first episode of this new season where Ted sees an award plaque for his dad being the salesman of the year.  Followed by a scene with shared memories about Ted going to work with his dad, and the feelings that went along with that.  It made me think of my dad, and that family was THE MOST important thing to him.  Not just family in the general sense, but OUR family: mom, dad, me, and Cara.  There is so much that goes into taking care of family.  And there is a switch that happens when you lose a parent--you kind of have your eyes opened to the how.  How dad took care of us.  Taking over that responsibility--to make sure that mom is taken care of--is something that Cara and I are constantly trying to live up to.  There's never a clear answer as to the how we should be doing it.  Our next journey will be memory care.  There are moments when that feels like this came quickly out of nowhere, while other moments it feels like this fight (learning of the diagnosis, conversations about moving mom from independent living to assisted, talking to doctors and experts in the field) where time feels like it has moved slower.  Here is what I know- there is no right answer, right time. There is just what we know--what our dad taught us.  And we just have to have trust and faith that we continue to let that be our guiding light.
