Olivet's Story
Thursday 19th Mar
This summer, Olivet Presbyterian Church will once again take part in the Longest Day Hike AT VA in support of the Alzheimer's Association—and we are honored to participate for the second year.
Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia are not distant realities for us—they are deeply personal. Within our own church family, many are walking this difficult journey. Members of our staff, including Pastor Seth, Catherine Konvalinka, and Pastor Dale, have close family connections to Alzheimer’s and dementia. And across our congregation and broader community, there are countless others who are caring for loved ones, grieving losses, and navigating the challenges that come with this disease.
Over the past year, Olivet has deepened its partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association in meaningful ways. Together, we have hosted educational programming to raise awareness, offered a support group for caregivers, and created space for honest conversation and shared experience. These ministries have reminded us that no one should walk this road alone.
Participating in the Longest Day Hike is one more way we can stand with those affected. It is a chance to raise funds for research, advocacy, and care—while also honoring the stories, struggles, and strength of those in our community.
We are excited to invite the Olivet community to join us again this year—whether by hiking, giving, or simply walking alongside those who are facing Alzheimer’s and dementia.
