Patrick Higgins

NYC Marathon

I'm fundraising for...

I am running my second marathon!   Inspired last year by my daughter Madeline (she ran 3 NYC marathons  in support of Alzheimers) Team Higgy raised nearly $90,000 and I ran 4 hours flat.  This year, with your generous support, I look to raise more and finish faster.

Alzheimers has had a dramatic affect on my family, Marilyn Higgins, (mother), Joe Quinlan (grandfather), Mike Quinlan (uncle/godfather), Andy Dephillips (father in law) have all passed.  When a family member is diagnosed with Alzheimers it affects the entire family.  The relentless deterioration of the affected person’s life robs them of their daily functioning capabilities, dignity and memories.

One year ago, after a 10 year battle with Alzheimers, my mom, Marilyn “Maz” Higgins died.   She was in hospice care for years and was a true fighter!   It is my mother’s legacy that will continue to give me strength and inspiration as I train for this race.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page and thank you many times over if you are able to contribute to the Alzheimers fundraising campaign.

Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050.
