One of my favorite things about owning The Board Game Vault is watching what happens when people sit down around a table together. People who may not have known each other an hour earlier are laughing, talking and sharing a little piece of their lives with one another.

That feels especially meaningful when you think about a disease that takes those memories away.

This Labor Day, we're hosting our first Mahjong Tournament, Play It Forward, and we're donating the tournament entry fees to the Alzheimer's Association.

I chose $19 for the entry fee because about 1 in 9 Americans age 65 and older is living with Alzheimer's. I wanted the number to mean something, but I also wanted to keep the tournament affordable so people could come spend the afternoon with us, play some mahjong and help us raise money for a really important cause.

We'll have 32 players around 8 tables, some pretty fantastic prizes, and I'm sure, plenty of friendly competition. You can sign up for the tournament here under experiences: https://www.opentable.com/r/the-board-game-vault-bgv-silos-new-braunfels?corrid=fe3216bb-9763-4cd6-843c-5146d84480a8&avt=eyJ2IjozLCJtIjowLCJwIjowLCJzIjowLCJuIjowfQ&p=2&sd=2026-05-11T19%3A00%3A00

At the end of the day, I'm hoping we fill every seat and raise a little more than we thought we could. The Board Game Vault will match all money raised. If you're playing with us, I can't wait to have you at the table. If mahjong isn't your thing but you'd still like to help, you can donate here or simply share this page.

Either way, thank you for being part of it. It means a lot to me that this little place we've built can be used to bring people together and do some good while we're at it.
