2026 Season Wrap Up
Saturday 27th Jun As we come to the close of our 2026 DWYL season, I realize I have volunteered with the Alzheimer's Association to help encourage others to start their own fundraiser and yet I have neglected my own. This year has been full of changes to say the least -- but I know Papa would be so proud of the things I've been able to do such as buying a house in Charleston and becoming an official member of a church. The fight to end Alzheimer's is not over. I know there are medications that now have FDA approval, which is an incredible step in the right direction. However, Alzheimer's is still very prevalent amongst the population. What are the steps we can take now to prevent those numbers from rising even higher?
First, take care of yourself. Do your research on prevention and how daily lifestyle factors play a big role in Alzheimer's and dementia.
Secondly, donate and fundraise! We have made significant progress thus far, but there is still so much more to do. I pray to be able to witness the first survivor of Alzheimer's in my lifetime, so let's keep conducting research to make that happen.
Finally, talk about it. Share your story. I am finding that most people have some connection to Alzheimer's or dementia. People have either lost someone to the disease already or know someone living with it currently. The more we share our stories and support one another, the more good we can do with (and for) each other.

Such an important organization to support!!!
