My Updates

Larry Lauber (Aug 31, 1940 - Jan 30, 2026)

Sunday 8th Feb
Larry Lauber passed away the day after Evelyn Silverman passed away. They were cousins. I will always remember Larry as a stand up guy that loved his cats. He always had a friendly word for anyone willing to listen. And was extremely generous with his time. Larry was loved by all who knew him and will continue to be.

Evelyn Silverman (Aug 12, 1934 - Jan 29, 2026)

Sunday 8th Feb
Evelyn was a very sweet and thoughtful person. She made me feel like family from the day we met until the day she passed. For that, I am thankful.

My funny story about Evelyn....

A few years ago, I was riding my motorcycle home after a charity event and I was hit by a car that ran a red light 2 miles from my house. Adrenaline took over and I was taking pictures and posting them on my social media. I thought I was ok. Then the Adrenaline vanished, down I went. I called the ambulance and my wife. Frances arrived first, then the ambulance and away I went. Meanwhile... the pictures I posted were getting noticed by many of my friends, including Mala. Mala happened to be bowling across the street from my condo complex and Evelyn was with her. They left the bowling alley and went to the hospital. When they got there, they were met by some of my other friends in the lobby. However, no one had any news on my condition because they weren't "family". Well, that wasn't going to stop Evelyn. She always saw me as her daughter. So she went to the nurses station and told them that she was my Mom (I always called her that anyway.) One of the nurses came back to my bed and said "Your Mom is here. Do you want us to let her back?" Immediately, I'm confused because my Mom lives in South Carolina. So I asked the nurse "What is her name?" She said "Evelyn". My actual Mom's name IS Evelyn George. Even more confused, I said... "sure send her back. I've got to see this!" And in walks Evelyn and Mala!!! Evelyn quickly walked up to me grabbed my hand leaned down and kinda whispered and said "I told them I was your Mom!" And patted my hand and winked. Once she actually saw me and knew I was going to be ok, it was all smiles and laughter after that. Until Evelyn entered my room, I thought I was alone. She let me know that I was not. I always felt loved in her presence. Now I knew she felt the same.

The picture attached is from the day of my accident when I was discharged. There she is, on my left... helping to keep me upright. My Mom... always ready with the loving smile. Evelyn, you will be missed.

Carnival Cruise to Cozumel

Friday 16th Jan
It's that time of year again!! This year is beginning a little different than the ones in the past. I had an opportunity to go on my very first cruise. I decided to count this as my first Ride What You Love for Alzheimer's event!! But don't you worry, I have plenty of motorcycle riding to do this year and it all will be for Alzheimer's. So please, give what you can. Pass my information along to some friends, family, coworkers or strangers!! Let's do this. I would love for others to join me in collecting donations. Every little bit counts.
