Please join us for 'A Night To Remember' A Fundraising Gala at UNE
Wednesday 7th Jan
My name is Claire. My mom, Nancy, passed away right before Thanksgiving 2025, after 8 years of battling Alzheimer's. She had two copies of a risk factor gene for Early Onset Alzheimer's, APOE4.
Through the course of her disease, it was a point of pride for my mom to be able to participate in research. She hoped that somehow she might be able to help future patients. My parents received so much help from organizations like the Alzheimer's Association as they learned more about the disease, current research and what to expect though all the stages. Having access to information and research helped them prepare. In turn, my mom was able to give back to that body of research by being a participant in the highly-publicized Yale Clinical trials looking for a cure for Alzheimer's.
My father gave up his pilot career and love of Aviation and became a full-time meticulous, dedicated caregiver. Without the Alzheimer’s Association there’s no way he could have done it all. They gave so much advice along the way and support in the form of Caregiver Support Groups. Even though my mother has passed, my dad still gets dinner and spends time with the other caregivers because that community ‘just gets it’.
Please help me and the University of New England Health care professionals give back to this organization that has given so much to my family. As future PAs, Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, and Physical and Occupational Therapists, we will all at some point work with patients at some stage of dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Any donations made will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association in helping fund research, education, and patient support. Please feel free to give what you can, or join us at our Gala Event to show your support and enjoy a night to remember, complete with dancing, a silent auction, and catering with a cash bar.
Alzheimer's is a disease that has an effect on the lives of all of us, either in our careers or in the people that we love. By coming together now, we can turn grief into purpose and help fund the research, education, and support that will change the future of Alzheimer’s care.
