A Book Club for Awareness, Understanding, and Hope
Join us for a special edition of The Memory Shelf, a book club centered on Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting by Lisa Genova, a groundbreaking book that explores how memory works, what causes memory loss, and how we can better understand and support brain health throughout our lives.
Most of us know someone who has been affected by Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia—a family member, friend, neighbor, or caregiver. The impact of this illness extends far beyond the individual diagnosed, deeply affecting loved ones and entire communities.
Through accessible science and compassionate storytelling, Lisa Genova offers powerful insights into memory, aging, and cognitive health, encouraging greater empathy and awareness while helping readers better understand the experience of those living with memory loss.
This book club is an opportunity to remember and honor those we have lost to dementia, while also learning ways to support brain health, raise awareness, and make life easier for those currently affected.
How it works:
The Memory Shelf will run primarily as a digital book club experience. Participants will join an Instagram group chat where we will discuss the book, share reflections, and follow guided conversation throughout the reading journey. In addition, a 7-part video series will be shared on social media, offering key insights, reflections, and discussion points from the book.
Updates, conversations, and community engagement will take place through @EC_ElizabethCoronado.
In addition, we will host an intimate in-person gathering on June 18th for a select group of participants. This physical event will have very limited seating and is open only to residents of Palm Beach and Miami. Attendees will be selected from individuals who make a minimum donation of $25 to the Alzheimer’s Association fundraising page.
After donating, participants should send a direct message to @EC_ElizabethCoronado on Instagram to be added to the group chat. From there, selected attendees for the in-person event will be notified directly.
Whether participating digitally or in person, every contribution supports Alzheimer’s research, care, and advocacy programs for individuals and families impacted by the disease.
Together, we can honor those we have lost, support those currently living with dementia, and contribute to a future with greater understanding, prevention, and hope.
